OUR INSTRUCTORS

Evin Galang, Director
evin@downsouthswing.com
Evin began Lindy Hopping in 1997 in Chicago and quickly knew that she was hopelessly addicted.  Dancing every night of the week soon parlayed into teaching, performing and competing.  Evin has now been teaching around the United States and Europe for over 10 years.  Evin's dancing combines the classic movement of Lindy Hop, rock solid technique, grace, musicality, and a healthy dose of humor.  Her fresh, dynamic approach to dancing and teaching keeps her students both engaged and entertained.

In 2001, after teaching in Chicago and touring regionally with Noah Galang for several years, Evin formed the Lindy Hop troupe Blue Moon Groove.  A leader in the scene in Chicago, Blue Moon Groove focused on creating strong social dancers while using a fun, energetic approach that made both the techniques and the social aspect of dancing accessible.

Together with Andrew Twiss (Chicago), Evin has taken first through fourth at National competitions including the North Atlantic Dance Competitions (NADC), Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown (ULHS) and American Lindy Hop Championships (ALHC.)  Her choreography has been featured on Cupid (ABC) and Wild Chicago (PBS.)

Whether taking a private lesson, group class, workshop or specialty lesson; enjoying a performance or having a social dance, Evin's enthusiasm and expertise is unmatched.  Save her a dance.  She's looking forward to it!

Michelle Postles

Michelle has been cutting a rug in the Atlanta swing scene since 1998.  After taking her first Lindy Hop class from Frankie Manning in 1999, she became a devoted follower.  Captivated by the music, the energy and the history of the partner dance, Michelle was hungry to learn more.  So, she hit the road to take class from some of the world's finest swing dance instructors.

Michelle is no stranger to the classroom.  She has been a student and performer of dance for over 25 years, training in Ballet, Modern/Contemporary and Jazz dance forms.  Add to that a little competitive gymnastics experience and some musical theater.....just to keep things interesting.  As an instructor, Michelle pulls from her diverse background and her quirky sense of humor to serve up a fun, enjoyable learning experience.  In all of her classes, she emphasize the importance of good basics, the essence of "feeling it" and creative, playful partnering skills.

Bela Jacobson
belanaomi@gmail.com

Bela Jacobson grew up playing sports and competing in gymnastics.  The first time she ever got on a dance floor was in 2001 for a beginner 8 count lindy hop class.  Since then, she hasn't gotten off the social dance floor, and has a special love for swing dancing.  Bela has been part of the Atlanta swing dance community since she began dancing, and has been teaching beginners since 2005. Bela has danced all around the US and Europe, and had the opportunity to take classes from some of the best, including Frankie Manning.  She has served on the ASEDA Board of Directors, and performs with the Tiny Bunch swing troupe. Bela's favorite part about swing dancing is sharing her passion of swing dance with newcomers and helping them gain the confidence to go out onto the social dance floor. Sometimes showing up to class with homemade treats works well for sharing the love of lindy hop.
